Tarka Talent may be a new name, but we have been active in the recruitment industry for over 7 years. We work closely with our clients to understand their recruitment needs completely. Focusing on the Strategy, Transformation, and Change Management space, across permanent and contract, we use the latest recruitment technology and our unrivalled knowledge of the industry to identify and approach the best candidates in the market.
I launched Tarka Talent as a specialist recruitment consultancy in the Strategy & Transformation marketplace. Building on my background as a Management Consultant and my recruitment expertise, I take time to understand both my candidate’s and my client’s requirements to provide a first-class recruitment experience.
After graduating from the University of Durham in 2013, I began work as an Associate Consultant for a large corporate recruitment agency. Unsure if recruitment was for me, I left to join the graduate scheme at Capgemini Consulting (now Invent). At Capgemini I learned the ins and outs of the consulting industry, gaining experience across Financial Services, Utilities, Transport and the Public Sector.
After an early promotion off the graduate scheme at Capgemini, I was drawn back towards the world of recruitment by my internal work to improve Capgemini’s graduate recruitment activities: creating new strategies for engaging with the best candidates, improving the gender-split of applicants and developing the assessment process.
This work made me realise my true passion was for recruitment.
So, I moved back to recruitment in 2016 to set up the Strategy & Transformation recruitment practice for 3Search. Working across consultancies and directly with industry clients, I built a number of amazing relationships which I’ve brought across to Tarka Talent with me.
In 2021, with the backing of the 11 Investments group, I decided to break my practice away, into my own recruitment consultancy, Tarka Talent.
After graduating from the University of Brighton in May
2021, I was extremely excited to start my career in recruitment and to join up with both Sam and Rich at Tarka.
Coming from a sporting background the opportunity to translate my competitive nature into a business setting lured me into recruitment. Tarka’s fresh approach and boutique feel made it an easy decision to join. I’m very excited to see what we can achieve in the coming months!
Away from work I’m a keen runner, I love spending time outdoors and general socialising. A defensive number 3 batsman and I bowl some dodgy round the wicket off-spin. I did come second in a Year 4 talent show singing Patience by Take That.
After an economics degree at York, and a brief foray into the world of student welfare support, I moved back down South and to London to enter the world of recruitment.
I cut my teeth in change and transformation recruitment, before joining up with Richard to support the launch of Tarka Talent – a strategy and transformation specialist.
It is testament to the hard work he has put in and relationships that he has built as a management, and recruitment, consultant that I have so much excitement for the growth journey ahead with Tarka Talent.
In my spare time, I enjoy the company of friends and a hard fought game of tennis. I’m a reluctant supporter of West Ham and look forward to many disappointing games under the lights of the Olympic stadium. I make a fantastic chicken shawarma, and a terrible Spanish omelette.
After graduating from the university of Bristol with a degree in Social Policy, I went on to complete the Teach First graduate scheme and 5 years a teacher of Geography. I have always been a keen academic and had a real interest in understanding society and how people work. So, during this time I also completed an MA in Education ad Leadership and a further MA in Social Anthropology.
One of my biggest passions is travelling, so during my time as a teacher, I taught for a year in Doha. This gave me a chance to visit many countries. I completed the Everest Base Camp Climb surfed in Sri Lanka, hiked Wadis in Oman and completed a 500 Yoga Teach Training Course in Costa Rica. On returning to the UK, I quickly worked my way up in teaching and then decided I was ready for a new challenge.
The opportunity to translate my teaching practice somewhere else became unquestionable after meeting the team at Tarka Talent. I am looking forward to learning form Rich and the whole team. Tarka is a testament to Rich’s hard work and relationship building and I’m excited to be part of the growth.
Outside of work, I enjoy yoga, boxing and weight training. I also enjoy getting to teach yoga sometimes and creating playlists to do so. I love music and am slowly building a record collection thanks to my dad’s influence. I recently moved to East London and am loving getting to know the local area and cafes.
Having decided university wasn’t the one for me I quite literally upped sticks and ran away to Africa. 4 Years later having spent time working in oil and security, surf bars, horse safaris and stupidly thinking cycling across South Africa was a good idea – I returned home to the Wye Valley.
I followed up my African adventures with something equally adventurous, entering the world of acting on screen (sort of by mistake I must add). Sex Education on Netflix being the show in question. With many a rude or vulgar line thrown in throughout the 3 seasons I filled my summers with take after take of the hit series, whilst in the Winter I was preparing sides of smoked salmon for smoked foods company.
All eventually landing here at Tarka after a two year stint in the Shooting Industry. I hope to learn as much from Richard and Sam as possible to continue to take Tarka Talent from stride to stride.
I’m a keen climber with a fear of heights, an ardent Scotland rugby supporter and a dab hand with a snooker cue (usually after a negroni or two).
